Hànshū 漢書 hanshu ‘book of the Hàn’, dynastic history of the Former Hàn dynasty covering the period from 206 BCE to 23 CE. It was complied by Bān Gù 班固 (32-92 CE) with the help of his sister Bān Biāo 班彪 (3-54 CE). Its chapter Yìwénzhì 藝文志 ‘treatise on literature’ is a valuable source of information about early texts, including those of the zhū zǐ bǎi jiā ‘masters of the hundred schools’. It includes a section on the míng jiā ‘school of names’ and the mò jiā ‘Mohists’.【Jeremy】
